In Dec 2013, Glen Galindo founded Minga House Foundation as a facilitating organization for short-term international volunteers in health careers to have safe & fun learning experiences in beautiful Colombia. Then, in 2017, Bart Taylor made the decision to go see what Glen was doing in Colombia. Bart has traveled the world during his 25-year career in the U.S. Army, but had not been to Colombia yet. Glen, his childhood and life-long best frend has been inviting Bart come check-out the beauty, peace, and tranquility he's found in Colombia. So, when Bart arrived, they teamed up on building a retirement home for themselves acquiring this beautiful 1980's style mansion on a 45-acre coffee farm in Chinchina, Caldas. But both, being military veterans, understanding the needs of many others like themselves, they decided to share the property in support other veterans who may need relief from Combat Trauma or Stress Fatigue (PTSD); as well as a new mission in life in service to others. This property will not be a 'clinical setting.' The property simply offers wonderfully peaceful setting to live which Glen & Bart wish to share with other veterans, as their home too.
Once fully renovated, the property will serve as a retreat center providing an oasis for relaxation, healing, recovery, and peace! Residents and visitors will experience a calm & beautiful setting as well as be able to experience educational seminars, recreation & cultural activities, a healthy life style, and participation in Minga House Foundation's existing local volunteering program. The property will serve for the foreseeable future simply as a private home under renovation. Much restoration work to be done still throughout 2018! Four live-in residents are being invited to join during the renovation period in order to prepare the property more rapidly.
'Renovation Phase' will require much time & effort from residents and visiting volunteers. If you wish to contribute to this project, you are very welcome to do so! In fact, we do need your help! You may help us reach operational level faster by making a financial contribution to purchase supplies, equipment, and furniture, and/or by throwing-in with us with your labor and brainpower. Professionals with the following skills are especially welcome to volunteer: You must stay at least 30 days to participate. You would have a FREE place to stay while we have work for you.
